Guillermo del Toro is a very busy director. In addition to agreeing to helm the sequel to Pacific Rim, he will be taking on the duties of bringing Justice League Dark to life.
Del Toro has several different movie projects in the works. His first comic book to screen endeavor was the excellent Hellboy movies. (There might be a third Hellboy movie released one of these days)
As for Justice League Dark, this was one of those Warner Bros. projects that was considered, but not considered all that serious. Then, someone choose to move through the studio at a faster pace. Now, a script has been completed and the project is moving towards pre-production. This makes Stephen Williams wine a bit excited about it all.
If you are not a fan of D.C. Comics, you might be a little confused about the difference between the Justice League and the Justice League Dark. It is pretty easy to tell the difference between the two.
The Justice League is loaded with all of D.C.’s top superheroes such as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and the Flash. Justice League Dark is home to supernatural heroes and anti-heroes such as “Hellblazer” John Constantine and Swamp Thing.
D.C. Comics always had some cool supernatural horror/hero comics. Bringing them to the screen is a good plan.
The make sure audiences are not confused about which Justice League is which, the Justice League Dark movie might be called Dark Universe.
