| London Fringe New Comedy Award 2009 |
Let's face it, London is the best place in the world to be a comedian. And a great place to win a Comedy Award. All comedians are welcome, whether you work/live in London or not. We've got 3 nights of competitions booked into the Skinkers pub near London Bridge station. The venue is a 50-seater with standing room at the back. And it's right next to the London Dungeon, who could probably do with a laugh or two. We'll be judging each night, and will announce a winner for each group of comedians at the end of each night, and the overall winner on the last night. There won't be a charge at the door, but we will ask for donations from the audience, a la the Free Fringe. The money we collect will go towards buying the comics a drink at the bar. |
| Here's how we intend to do the judging: Paul Ricketts, who is MC'ing the night, and Greg Tallent will be judges, and we'll pick one more judge from the audience. At the end of the night each will pick who they think is the best comic. If someone gets two votes that person is the winner. If the judges pick different people, then Greg gets the casting vote. At the end of the 3rd night, we'll have three winners, one from each night, and as only Paul and Greg will have judged them all, it'll be between the two of them to decide the overall winner. If they don't agree, then Greg gets to choose, since he was the one who got the flyers done. Seems fair.
